Inter Miami have completed the signing of Brazilian midfield powerhouse Casemiro, adding another decorated global star to their ambitious Major League Soccer project.
The 34-year-old joins the Florida club as a free agent following the end of his spell with Manchester United. He has signed a contract running through the conclusion of the 2027 MLS Sprint Season, with an option that could keep him in Miami until June 2029. His registration remains subject to receiving a P-1 work visa.
Casemiro will wear the No. 5 shirt and join a star-studded squad featuring longtime rival-turned-teammate Lionel Messi. Their reunion adds extra excitement to the move after years of competing on opposite sides of Spanish football’s biggest rivalry, with Casemiro representing Real Madrid and Messi starring for Barcelona.
Speaking after the announcement, Casemiro said his biggest motivation remains winning and continuing to grow. He also expressed gratitude for the effort Inter Miami made to bring him to the club and promised to give everything in matches and training.
The veteran midfielder arrives with one of the strongest résumés in modern football. During his glittering Real Madrid career, he made 336 appearances and won 18 trophies, including five UEFA Champions League titles, three La Liga crowns and three FIFA Club World Cups.
Casemiro later moved to Manchester United, where he added the FA Cup and English League Cup to his collection before leaving the Premier League club.
Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham described Casemiro as a proven winner and welcomed the Brazilian and his family to Miami. Managing owner Jorge Mas also praised the midfielder’s leadership, mentality and experience at football’s highest level.
However, the announcement has been accompanied by an MLS investigation into an alleged tampering issue involving the transfer. LA Galaxy held Casemiro’s discovery priority before Inter Miami acquired those rights, although the league has not announced any punishment or final decision.
Despite that uncertainty, Casemiro’s arrival represents another major statement from Inter Miami. His defensive strength, experience and winning mentality could provide the balance needed to support Messi and the club’s attacking stars as they chase further domestic and international success.
