Agradaa Exposes Harsh Nsawam Prison Reality, Warns Chairman Wontumi of Painful Road Ahead

Evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has opened up about the difficult conditions she experienced at Nsawam Prison while warning that Chairman Wontumi could encounter similar realities during his 20-year sentence.

Speaking during a TikTok Live session, Agradaa described prison as a place where wealth, fame and social status offer little protection from strict rules. She recalled losing control over basic aspects of her daily life, including when to wake up, what to wear and how to complete routine personal activities.

According to the outspoken evangelist, inmates were summoned for an early-morning assembly by the ringing of a bell. She said prisoners were required to wear approved uniforms and slippers while following instructions without the freedoms they previously enjoyed outside the facility.

Agradaa also described the loss of privacy as one of the most humiliating parts of incarceration. She claimed inmates underwent inspections before bathing and had to use shared facilities under strict supervision, regardless of their age, financial position or public reputation.

Reflecting on those conditions, she warned young people to avoid actions that could send them to prison. Agradaa said her experience completely changed her approach to decision-making, adding that she would reject any opportunity capable of putting her freedom at risk again.

Turning her attention to Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi, Agradaa suggested that the businessman and politician could now face the same loss of comfort, privacy and personal control she endured behind bars.

Wontumi was sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment on July 20, 2026, after the Accra High Court convicted him over illegal mining-related offences connected to activities involving Akonta Mining Limited. His legal team and party have continued to review the ruling and the options available to challenge it.

Agradaa, whose initial 15-year sentence was later reduced to 12 months following an appeal, said surviving prison and returning home safely should be viewed as an act of divine mercy.

She has also called for prayers for Wontumi and encouraged his family to seek spiritual support, arguing that imprisonment affects not only the convicted person but also relatives and loved ones.

Her emotional account has generated widespread discussion online, with many Ghanaians describing her remarks as a sobering warning about the realities hidden behind prison walls.
