Shatta Wale’s newly released African King album has received a major promotional boost in the United States after Ghanaian content creator Benson The Actor took the project to the streets of Times Square in New York City.

In a video shared online, Benson was seen energetically promoting the album in the heart of Manhattan while surrounded by Times Square’s bright digital billboards, heavy traffic and large crowds of visitors.

The colourful street campaign immediately attracted attention from Shatta Movement supporters, who praised Benson for using his platform to push Ghanaian music beyond the country’s borders.

Rather than limiting the promotion to a simple social media post, the entertainer brought the album directly to one of New York’s most recognisable locations. His public display transformed the busy street into a promotional stage for Shatta Wale’s latest musical project.

Benson The Actor is a Ghanaian content creator known for comedy and entertaining social media videos. His YouTube channel has attracted more than 170,000 subscribers, with some of his previous content also showing his support for Shatta Wale’s music.

The video has added to the growing international conversation surrounding African King, which was officially released on July 17, 2026, through Shatta Movement Records.

The 21-track album runs for approximately 46 minutes and includes songs such as “God of the Universe,” “End of Discussion,” “Badman Fi Real,” “No Day Off,” “King Energy,” “Mountain Afajato” and the title track, “African King.”

The project combines Shatta Wale’s familiar dancehall energy with themes of resilience, ambition, faith, success and African pride. Its title also reinforces the musician’s long-standing claim as one of the leading forces in African dancehall.

Benson’s Times Square promotion carries added significance because New York is home to a large African and Caribbean community. Taking the album to such a prominent international location creates an opportunity for the project to reach audiences beyond Shatta Wale’s established Ghanaian fan base.

The campaign also demonstrates the important role content creators and fans can play in expanding the visibility of African music. Without waiting for a formal billboard campaign or corporate sponsorship, Benson used creativity and street-level promotion to place African King in front of a global audience.

For Shatta Wale and the Shatta Movement, the Times Square appearance represents another powerful moment in the album’s rollout.

From Ghana to the streets of New York, the message behind African King is travelling—and Benson The Actor is making sure the world takes notice.
