A Florida father has been left devastated after his wife and their 2-year-old daughter were killed in a sudden lightning strike in Margate, Florida, turning what was supposed to be a family gathering into an unimaginable tragedy.
Kenya Glasgow, 31, and her daughter, Kennedi Glasgow, 2, were struck by lightning on Sunday, August 23, 2026, as the family attempted to get indoors while a storm intensified. Police and emergency crews responded at around 2:30 p.m. after the mother and child were found lying on a sidewalk in the 7900 block of Northwest First Street.
Kenya’s husband, Kameron Glasgow, witnessed the horrifying incident and said he also felt an electrical shock traveling through the ground. When he turned around, he saw his wife and daughter lying motionless.
First responders immediately performed CPR before Kenya and Kennedi were transported to separate hospitals. Despite efforts to save them, both were pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
In an emotional interview captured on video, Kameron struggled to hold back tears while speaking about the two people he had suddenly lost.
He described Kenya, his high school sweetheart, as a woman with an enormous heart who constantly placed the needs of others ahead of her own. He also remembered little Kennedi as an energetic child who loved singing and music.

The tragedy is particularly heartbreaking because Kennedi had an identical twin sister, Kensli, who survived and is now left without both her mother and twin sister.
Kameron said he knows he must somehow remain strong for Kensli as the family attempts to cope with the devastating loss.
Witnesses in the neighborhood described hearing an extremely powerful lightning strike, with one resident saying the impact was strong enough to shake his home.
The deaths have sent shockwaves through the Margate community and serve as a painful reminder of how quickly severe weather can become deadly.
