Ghana’s viral 2026 FIFA World Cup fan favorite, Kailani Ibrahim Kpa, popularly known as “Powder Man,” has been granted GH¢400,000 bail after appearing before Accra Circuit Court 9 over allegations of visa and travel fraud.

Kailani, who became an internet sensation for his energetic support of the Black Stars and his trademark white-powder celebrations during the World Cup, appeared in court on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, following his arrest by officers from the Ghana Police Service’s Documentation and Visa Fraud Unit.

Prosecutors allege that he collected more than US$30,000 from over 13 individuals after promising to facilitate their travel to countries including Canada, Nicaragua and the United States.

According to reports surrounding the case, the promised trips allegedly failed to materialize, leading to complaints from individuals who claimed they had handed over significant sums of money for the travel arrangements.

The Accra Circuit Court subsequently granted Kailani bail in the amount of GH¢400,000 with three sureties. Reports indicate that two of the sureties must be close family relatives, while one must be justified.

The court has adjourned the case to September 28, 2026, when proceedings are expected to continue.

Kailani’s court appearance marks a dramatic change in circumstances for a man who only weeks ago became one of Ghana’s most recognizable supporters at the 2026 World Cup.

Television cameras repeatedly captured him blowing white powder into the air while cheering on the Black Stars, with clips of his celebrations spreading widely across social media and earning him the nickname “Powder Man.”

His sudden rise to fame made him a popular figure among football supporters, but the latest allegations have now placed him at the center of a closely watched legal case.

It is important to note that the accusations against Kailani Ibrahim Kpa remain allegations and have not been proven in court. He is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless found guilty through the judicial process.

With the case now adjourned until September 28, attention will remain firmly on Accra Circuit Court 9 as further details surrounding the alleged travel transactions emerge.
