United States Men’s National Team striker Folarin Balogun is closing in on a sensational return to the Premier League after Everton agreed a £40 million deal with AS Monaco for the highly-rated forward.

The 25-year-old is expected to become one of Everton’s biggest summer acquisitions as the Toffees strengthen their attacking options ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. Reports on September 1 indicate that a medical is part of the final process before the transfer is officially completed.

Balogun’s expected arrival marks a return to English football for a striker who came through Arsenal’s academy before establishing himself as a prolific goalscorer in France.

After an impressive loan spell at Reims, where he scored 22 goals during the 2022/23 season, Balogun joined Monaco permanently in 2023. He went on to register 31 goals in 91 appearances for the Ligue 1 club.

The American international enjoyed one of his strongest campaigns in 2025/26, scoring 19 goals in 43 appearances across all competitions, including five in the UEFA Champions League.

Balogun also carried his goalscoring form onto the international stage during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, finding the net three times for the United States as he established himself as one of the key attacking figures in the USMNT setup.

His pace, movement behind defensive lines and finishing ability could offer Everton a different attacking dimension as the club looks to compete strongly in the Premier League.

The move also comes as Everton forward Beto is expected to depart for Fiorentina, opening additional space in the attacking department.

For Balogun, the transfer represents another major chapter in a fascinating career that has taken him from Arsenal’s academy to France, international football with the United States and now potentially back to England’s top flight.
