A Florida mother faced an emotional court appearance after authorities accused her of leaving her four young children home without adult supervision while she traveled on a Carnival cruise to the Bahamas.
Nathalie Belizaire, 29, of North Miami Beach, has been charged with four counts of child neglect without great bodily harm following her return from a three-night voyage aboard the Carnival Conquest. Among the children allegedly left at the residence were a 2-month-old infant and a 2-year-old toddler.
According to an arrest affidavit, the father of Belizaire’s 2-month-old child became concerned after seeing what appeared to be information about a Carnival cruise on her WhatsApp story. He told investigators that Belizaire had indicated the children would stay with their great-grandmother while she was away.
However, when he went to Belizaire’s apartment on Saturday, September 26, he reportedly heard the children inside and noticed that a television was on. Police were contacted and responded to the residence. Authorities said officers eventually entered the home and discovered all four children without an adult present. Reports state that the children were found together in a bathroom.

Investigators determined that Belizaire had departed PortMiami on September 25 for a Bahamas cruise. When the Carnival Conquest returned to Miami on Monday, September 28, authorities were waiting, and Belizaire was taken into custody.
During her court appearance, Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer expressed concern about the allegations, particularly considering the young ages of the children. Belizaire’s attorney emphasized that the claims against her remained allegations.
The court reportedly set her bond at $10,000 and ordered her to have no contact with the children while the case proceeds.
Belizaire has not been convicted of the charges, and the allegations will have to be established through the court process.
