A 45-year-old UK-based Ghanaian man, Evans Nyarko, has been sentenced to eight years in prison after a jury found him guilty of sexually assaulting a woman he had offered to help get home safely after a night out.

Nyarko, who lived in Fishermead, Milton Keynes, was sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court on October 1, 2026, following a unanimous guilty verdict on a serious sexual offence. His six-day trial concluded on May 26, 2026.

The disturbing incident happened shortly after midnight on August 12, 2024, in the Conniburrow area of Milton Keynes.

According to Thames Valley Police, the woman, who was in her fifties, had been spending the evening with friends and acquaintances. As the night came to an end, Nyarko offered to assist her in getting home by taxi.

After arriving at her residence, the woman became unwell and had difficulty walking.

Nyarko helped her into the property, but instead of simply ensuring she was safe, he followed her into a downstairs toilet, where he sexually assaulted her.

Police Describe ‘Terrible Abuse of Trust’

The woman reported the attack to Thames Valley Police, and Nyarko was arrested and charged on August 28, 2024.

Investigators said the victim knew Nyarko and accepted his assistance because she trusted him to help her reach home safely.

Nyarko denied the allegation throughout the investigation, meaning the woman eventually had to give evidence before a jury.

Police praised the victim for the courage and dignity she showed throughout the investigation and court proceedings, saying her decision to come forward helped bring Nyarko to justice.

The case ended with the jury unanimously finding Nyarko guilty.

His eight-year prison sentence now closes a court battle that followed an incident in which an apparent offer of help turned into a devastating sexual attack and abuse of trust.
