Mexican social-media influencer César Gastélum has been killed in a horrifying shooting that reportedly unfolded while he was broadcasting live to his followers.
Gastélum, a popular TikTok creator known for comedy and lifestyle content, was outside a fast-food restaurant in Culiacán, Sinaloa, on Tuesday night, August 4, when two helmeted individuals approached on a motorcycle. One of them allegedly opened fire directly at the influencer before the pair fled the scene.
The disturbing incident was captured during Gastélum’s livestream, shocking viewers who had been watching him interact with two friends. Reports indicate that the content creator and his companions were dressed as food-delivery workers as part of an online challenge when the attack occurred. His two companions were not physically injured but were reportedly left deeply shaken.
Gastélum had built a significant following online, attracting nearly 600,000 TikTok followers with humorous videos and content reflecting everyday life in northern Mexico. His sudden death has triggered an outpouring of grief from fans struggling to understand how an ordinary livestream turned into a fatal attack.
Police officers, soldiers and forensic investigators arrived at the scene, secured the area and began collecting evidence. Authorities also launched a major security operation as investigators searched for those responsible.
