BHIM Fest Drama: Stonebwoy Faces Nigerian Backlash Over Alleged ‘Disrespect’ Toward Mr P Onstage

Ghanaian dancehall superstar Stonebwoy has found himself at the center of a heated social media debate after some Nigerian fans accused him of allegedly disrespecting Mr P of P-Square during the 2026 BHIM Festival in London.

The controversy erupted following Stonebwoy’s historic BHIM Festival concert at the OVO Arena Wembley on Saturday, August 15, where Mr P joined an impressive lineup of performers for the highly anticipated show. Stonebwoy became the first Ghanaian artiste reported to have headlined a sold-out concert at the 12,500-capacity venue.

However, one particular interaction between Stonebwoy and the Nigerian music veteran quickly became a major talking point online.

Viral clips circulating on social media appear to show Stonebwoy removing Mr P’s cap during their interaction on stage. Another widely shared moment captured Stonebwoy making a joking “big brother” remark after Mr P’s performance. Some Nigerian social media users interpreted the gestures as disrespectful toward the P-Square star and began criticizing the Ghanaian musician.

One Nigerian commentator publicly called Stonebwoy out over the cap incident, helping fuel further debate between fans from Ghana and Nigeria.

But not everyone agrees that disrespect was intended.

Other social media users who watched longer footage of the moment argued that the interaction appeared playful and friendly, suggesting the viral clips were being taken out of context. One widely circulated response specifically defended Stonebwoy, saying the encounter looked jovial rather than hostile.

Mr P himself had delivered an energetic performance during the festival, with footage showing the Nigerian singer entertaining the Wembley crowd alongside Stonebwoy.

The controversy is particularly striking considering the apparent mutual support between the two stars. Mr P previously performed at Stonebwoy’s BHIM Festival in Ghana and publicly encouraged stronger musical connections between Ghanaian and Nigerian artistes.

As the clips continue spreading, fans remain divided over whether Stonebwoy crossed a line or whether an innocent stage joke has simply been blown out of proportion.

For now, neither viral outrage nor online arguments can change one fact: Stonebwoy and Mr P have suddenly turned one of BHIM Festival’s most memorable moments into one of the hottest Ghana-Nigeria entertainment debates on social media.
