Ghanaian dancehall superstar Stonebwoy has made a major change to his annual BHIM Festival, moving the highly anticipated 2026 edition from the massive Accra Sports Stadium to the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Legon.
The announcement marks a significant venue switch for the award-winning musician, whose previous concerts have attracted tens of thousands of enthusiastic fans.
The Accra Sports Stadium, which accommodates approximately 40,000 spectators, has hosted some of Stonebwoy’s biggest performances, including the historic 2025 edition celebrating a decade of BHIM Fest.
However, the 2026 event will take place at the considerably smaller University of Ghana Sports Stadium, which has an official seating capacity of approximately 10,000 to 11,000 spectators, according to the university.
Why Has Stonebwoy Moved BHIM Fest to Legon?
The venue change raises an interesting question about the direction of one of Ghana’s biggest annual music festivals.
Stonebwoy and his team have yet to publicly explain the specific reasons behind choosing the smaller stadium.
While the move could offer a different concert atmosphere and logistical arrangement, it remains unclear whether capacity, production requirements, financial considerations or other factors influenced the decision.
The festival has established a remarkable reputation over the years, attracting thousands of fans and international performers.
In 2023, BHIM Fest reportedly pulled more than 40,000 music lovers to the Accra Sports Stadium, demonstrating Stonebwoy’s impressive concert appeal.
BHIM Fest 2026 Set for Christmas Eve
Despite the venue change, excitement is building as the 11th edition of BHIM Festival is officially scheduled for December 24, 2026, beginning at 5 p.m.
The event is expected to celebrate Ghanaian music while bringing together reggae, dancehall, Afrobeats and other musical genres.
Organizers have confirmed the date and location, with announcements about supporting performers expected later.
For Stonebwoy, whose BHIM Nation movement continues to command a dedicated following, the new venue presents another opportunity to deliver a memorable musical experience.
However, with thousands of fans previously filling the larger Accra Sports Stadium, attention will undoubtedly turn to how the smaller Legon venue accommodates the anticipated crowd.
