A federal jury has reportedly reached a verdict in the highly publicized murder-for-hire trial of Grammy-winning Chicago rapper Lil Durk, bringing weeks of dramatic testimony and days of intense deliberations closer to a stunning conclusion.
Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, has been standing trial in federal court in Los Angeles alongside co-defendants Deandre “DeDe” Wilson and David “Browneyez” Lindsey.
The jury entered its third day of deliberations on Friday, September 11, after failing to reach a decision on Wednesday and Thursday. Jurors spent hours reviewing evidence and also sought clarification from the court on issues involving intent and stalking-related charges.
Prosecutors accuse Durk of helping orchestrate a 2022 murder-for-hire plot targeting rapper Quando Rondo, whose real name is Tyquian Bowman, following the 2020 killing of Durk’s close friend and fellow rapper King Von.
The August 2022 shooting near the Beverly Center in Los Angeles missed Quando Rondo but killed his cousin, Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson.
Throughout the trial, federal prosecutors argued that Durk was behind the alleged retaliation plot. Witnesses connected to his OTF circle testified for the government, while prosecutors presented travel records, communications and other evidence they said linked the rapper to the alleged scheme.
Durk’s defense strongly rejected the accusations, arguing that prosecutors failed to prove he ordered or paid for Robinson’s killing. His attorneys maintained that association with the people involved was not enough to establish criminal responsibility.
Durk has pleaded not guilty to the charges and remains presumed innocent unless the jury finds him guilty.
The case has attracted enormous attention from hip-hop fans, legal observers and supporters who have gathered outside the Los Angeles courthouse throughout the proceedings.
With the jury now reportedly reaching a decision, all eyes are on the courtroom as Lil Durk prepares to hear a verdict that could dramatically determine the next chapter of his life and career.
