A dramatic police pursuit unfolded across South Florida after authorities say a man fled a hospital, allegedly carjacked a woman in the parking lot and led law enforcement officers on a chaotic chase through Miami-Dade County.
The incident happened Thursday, September 24, at Palmetto General Hospital in Hialeah. Police identified the suspect as 35-year-old Eugene Jordan Brown. Officials said Brown had been taken to the hospital by the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office for a mental-health evaluation under Florida’s Baker Act before leaving the facility shortly after arriving.
According to Hialeah Police, Brown entered the hospital parking lot, approached a woman as she was getting out of a black Nissan Sentra and allegedly forced his way into the vehicle before speeding away. Authorities said the stolen car struck another vehicle as it left the area.
Hours later, law enforcement officers located the Nissan, triggering a dramatic pursuit across northwest Miami-Dade.
Video captured from above showed the sedan speeding through traffic as officers from multiple agencies followed closely behind. Authorities attempted several Precision Immobilization Technique, or PIT, maneuvers in an effort to stop the car, but the driver repeatedly managed to continue. During the chase, the vehicle reportedly struck another motorist and at one point hit a Hialeah Police cruiser.

The pursuit finally ended near Northwest 17th Avenue and 79th Street when a Florida Highway Patrol trooper successfully performed another PIT maneuver, sending the Nissan spinning before it crashed.
Officers immediately surrounded the damaged vehicle and took Brown into custody. Authorities later confirmed he was the same man accused of fleeing the hospital and taking the woman’s vehicle.
Despite the dangerous sequence of events, officials initially reported no serious injuries connected to the pursuit.
Footage of the chase quickly attracted attention online, showing multiple police vehicles pursuing the damaged sedan through busy South Florida streets before the dramatic final takedown.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the hospital escape, alleged carjacking and pursuit.
