The Accra High Court has rejected a bail application filed by Salomey Awiti Baffoe, the senior nursing officer accused of involvement in the controversial Ghana Jollof TikTok case, citing concerns that her release could interfere with ongoing investigations.
The ruling, delivered on Thursday, September 24, 2026, means the 40-year-old nurse will remain in custody as investigators continue examining allegations surrounding the publication of false information linked to the social media personality known as Ghana Jollof.
Court Raises Concerns Over Witness Interference
During the hearing, prosecutors opposed Baffoe’s release, arguing that her continued assistance was necessary to advance the investigation.
The prosecution maintained that investigators were still gathering evidence and needed her cooperation in efforts to trace another person implicated in the case.
After considering submissions from both sides, the court ruled that the cyber-related nature of the investigation presented a genuine risk of interference with witnesses if Baffoe was released at this stage.
However, the judge directed the prosecution to accelerate its investigations rather than allow the case to face unnecessary delays.
Defence Challenges Prosecution’s Claims
Baffoe’s lawyer, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, who is also the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South, strongly opposed the prosecution’s arguments.
He maintained that his client was entitled to the constitutional presumption of innocence and that the State had failed to present sufficient evidence to justify keeping her in custody.
The lawyer further argued that the alleged offence was a misdemeanour and questioned the prosecution’s claim that Baffoe could interfere with witnesses or obstruct investigations.
He also highlighted her family responsibilities, explaining that her continued detention was affecting her children, including one preparing to enter senior high school.
Despite these arguments, the court declined to grant bail.
Ghana Jollof Investigation Continues
Baffoe was initially remanded by the Adentan Circuit Court on September 17 after being accused of assisting UK-based TikToker Barbara Asantewa Kodua, popularly known as Ghana Jollof, in allegedly circulating false information.
She has pleaded not guilty to the charge of abetment of crime.
The case has also attracted public attention following an attempted arrest of Baffour Awuah by officials of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) at the court premises on September 23.
With bail denied, Baffoe remains in custody while investigators continue their work.
The Adentan Circuit Court proceedings are scheduled to resume on September 30, 2026
