Manchester City have sparked excitement among Ghanaian football supporters after naming Black Stars attacker Antoine Semenyo and Ghanaian-linked youngster Ryan McAidoo in their squad for the club’s 2026 pre-season tour of Asia.

The Premier League giants confirmed an initial 28-player travelling squad for the three-match tour, which will take place in Hong Kong and Seoul as preparations intensify for the 2026/27 campaign.

Semenyo’s inclusion gives the Ghana international another major opportunity to strengthen his place in the Manchester City team. The powerful attacker will be hoping to use the tour to improve his fitness, sharpen his understanding with his teammates and convince the technical team that he deserves a leading role during the new season.

However, the selection of 18-year-old Ryan McAidoo is also attracting considerable attention. The exciting left-footed winger can operate on either side of the attack and is highly rated for his speed, strength, aggressive dribbling and ability to score goals.

McAidoo joined Manchester City from Chelsea in August 2024 before impressing for the club’s youth sides and Elite Development Squad. His progress was rewarded with a senior debut in January 2026, when he marked the memorable occasion by scoring a goal.

Although McAidoo has represented England at youth level, he is eligible to play for Ghana through his family heritage, making his rapid development a major talking point among Black Stars supporters.

Manchester City will begin their Asia tour against Italian giants Inter Milan in Hong Kong on Saturday, August 1. They will then travel to Seoul to face the K League All-Stars on Wednesday, August 5, before completing the tour against Atletico Madrid on Sunday, August 9.

Several established players, including Phil Foden, Josko Gvardiol, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Mateo Kovacic and Savinho, were also included in the travelling group.

For Ghanaian football fans, the presence of Semenyo and McAidoo adds extra excitement to Manchester City’s Asian adventure. While Semenyo will be looking to establish himself as one of the club’s most dangerous attackers, McAidoo has been handed a golden opportunity to demonstrate that he is ready for more senior-team responsibilities.

The tour could mark the beginning of an important season for both players as they attempt to make a lasting impression in Manchester City colours.
