Ghanaian lawyer Latifa Teiya Fuseini has added another remarkable achievement to her rapidly rising legal career after securing admission to Harvard Law School, one of the world’s most prestigious institutions.
Fuseini, who emerged as the Overall Best Graduating Student of the Ghana School of Law’s Class of 2025, has now begun a Master of Laws (LL.M.) program at Harvard Law School.
Her journey to Harvard comes after an outstanding performance at the Ghana School of Law, where she reportedly topped 824 candidates called to the Ghana Bar in 2025. She received the John Mensah Sarbah Memorial Prize, awarded to the institution’s best all-round student, and also won the prize for Best Student in Conveyancing and Drafting.
Before entering professional legal training, Fuseini graduated from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 2023 with First Class Honours in Law.
But Harvard was not her only major opportunity.
In announcing the latest milestone, Fuseini revealed that she also received offers of admission from Yale Law School, Columbia Law School, the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School and Duke University School of Law before ultimately choosing Harvard.
Fuseini described joining the Harvard Law School community as something she once considered almost unimaginable, saying she intends to use the opportunity to deepen her understanding of complex legal issues, engage with different perspectives and continue developing as a lawyer.
Her achievement has attracted widespread praise in Ghana, particularly because of her extraordinary progression from graduating at the top of Ghana’s professional law class to studying at one of the most globally recognized law schools.
Fuseini, who is the daughter of former Sagnarigu Member of Parliament Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini, has previously spoken about wanting her career to inspire more women, particularly Muslim women from Northern Ghana, to pursue opportunities in the legal profession.
From Ghana’s best law graduate to Harvard Law School, Latifa Teiya Fuseini’s latest achievement marks another major chapter in an academic journey already defined by excellence.
