President John Dramani Mahama has showered glowing praise on Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, describing him as one of the most hardworking members of his administration.

Speaking during the Resetting Ghana Tour of the Volta Region on Thursday, July 16, 2026, President Mahama highlighted Ablakwa’s relentless diplomatic efforts and his growing influence in advancing Ghana’s interests internationally.

The President said many of the achievements and recognition credited to his leadership on the global stage were made possible by the Foreign Affairs Minister’s tireless work behind the scenes.

According to Mahama, Ablakwa has travelled extensively, held crucial diplomatic engagements and worked to secure international support for major initiatives championed by Ghana.

“Every credit that I have attained on the international scene, it is he that has done the legwork,” Mahama declared while addressing residents in the Volta Region.

The President particularly praised the North Tongu Member of Parliament for his contribution towards the adoption of the United Nations resolution on reparations.

Mahama revealed that Ablakwa personally led diplomatic efforts to convince member states to support the historic resolution, ultimately helping Ghana secure the backing of 123 countries.

The powerful endorsement places Ablakwa among the standout performers in the Mahama administration and underlines the confidence the President has in his Foreign Affairs Minister.

Since assuming office, Ablakwa has maintained a visible presence in Ghana’s diplomatic engagements, promoting the country’s interests and strengthening relationships with international partners.

Mahama’s public tribute is expected to further boost Ablakwa’s political standing while placing greater attention on his work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
