President John Dramani Mahama has announced another round of changes to his administration, reassigning three senior government officials in a fresh ministerial reshuffle.
The changes, announced on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, affect Dr. Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, Emmanuel Agyekum and Ernest Brogya Genfi, as the President continues to reorganize key positions within his government.
Under the latest arrangement, Dr. Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, who has been serving as Minister for Labour, Jobs and Employment, has been moved to the Office of the President as Minister of State in charge of Special Initiatives.
He effectively switches roles with Emmanuel Agyekum, who has been moved from his position as Minister of State responsible for Special Initiatives to take charge of the Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment.
Another major change involves Ernest Brogya Genfi, who has been removed from his position as Deputy Minister for Defence and reassigned to the Presidency.
Brogya Genfi will now serve as Presidential Adviser on National Resilience and Emergency Preparedness, giving him a new responsibility focused on national emergency planning and resilience.
The latest changes represent President Mahama’s second ministerial reshuffle in August 2026.
Earlier on August 7, the President reassigned Kenneth Gilbert Adjei from the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources to the Ministry of Defence, while Ahmed Ibrahim was moved to the Works, Housing and Water Resources Ministry.
That earlier reshuffle also saw Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings nominated to head the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology, while Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga was nominated as Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
The latest reshuffle is expected to generate fresh political discussion over the President’s evolving government structure and the performance expectations placed on appointees.
With Pelpuo, Agyekum and Brogya Genfi now taking up new responsibilities, attention will turn to how the changes affect the administration’s policy priorities and delivery in the months ahead.
