Mohammed Kudus Finally Returns! Ghana Star Named on Tottenham Bench Against Newcastle After Seven-Month Injury Nightmare

Email 9

Ghanaian international Mohammed Kudus has taken a major step toward completing his long-awaited comeback after being named among Tottenham Hotspur’s substitutes for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Newcastle United.

The exciting development comes after Kudus spent roughly seven months on the sidelines, having suffered a thigh injury in January. His recovery was complicated by a setback that extended his absence and ultimately kept him away from competitive football for months.

Tottenham confirmed Kudus among their substitutes for the August 29 encounter at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, meaning the 26-year-old could finally taste competitive action again if called upon by manager Roberto De Zerbi.

Huge Boost for Tottenham and Ghana

Kudus recently returned to full first-team training after completing the latest stage of his rehabilitation. His inclusion in the matchday squad represents an important milestone for a player considered one of Tottenham’s most dangerous attacking options when fully fit.

The Ghana international has not featured for Spurs since January, with his lengthy injury absence also forcing him to miss Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.

His comeback will therefore be closely watched not only by Tottenham supporters but also by football fans across Ghana eager to see one of the Black Stars’ biggest names back on the pitch.

De Zerbi had indicated before the Newcastle game that Kudus was approaching a return but suggested Tottenham would remain careful with his workload.

Tottenham started the Newcastle clash with Antonin Kinsky in goal, while Pedro Porro, Micky van de Ven, Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and new arrival Omar Marmoush were among those selected from the beginning. Kudus joined players including Dominic Solanke, Destiny Udogie and Conor Gallagher on the bench.

After months of rehabilitation, uncertainty and frustration, simply seeing Mohammed Kudus back in a Tottenham matchday squad represents a huge positive.

Now, Ghanaian supporters will be hoping for the moment they have been waiting months to see — Kudus stepping onto the pitch once again and reminding everyone of the talent that made him one of Africa’s most exciting football stars.
