Police have opened an investigation into the sudden death of Hollywood actress Hayden Panettiere, just hours after news of the Heroes and Nashville star’s passing sent shockwaves across the entertainment world.
Panettiere died on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the age of 36 in Greenville, South Carolina. Her death was confirmed by her family through her representative.
According to the Greenville Police Department, officers and emergency medical personnel responded at approximately 1:50 p.m. after receiving a report of an unresponsive woman. An acquaintance of Panettiere reportedly placed the 911 call.
Emergency medical assistance was administered after responders arrived, but Panettiere was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.
