NBA YoungBoy Stuns Fans With Music Break After Revealing Heart Scare: ‘Left Side of My Heart Was Swollen’

Email 23

Rap superstar NBA YoungBoy has sparked concern across the hip-hop world after revealing that he is stepping back from focusing on music while dealing with a troubling health issue involving his heart.

The 26-year-old Baton Rouge rapper, whose real name is Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, opened up about his health during a conversation with comedian Funny Marco for Open Thoughts. When asked how many more albums he had left in him, YoungBoy made it clear that recording music is no longer his main priority at the moment.

“Music is not something I’m focused on,” YoungBoy said before revealing that a doctor had told him the left side of his heart was swollen.

The unexpected revelation immediately triggered concern among fans, particularly because YoungBoy has built a reputation as one of hip-hop’s most prolific artists, regularly releasing albums, mixtapes and singles at a pace few rappers can match.

However, the rapper did not provide additional medical details about what caused the swelling, how serious doctors believe it is or what treatment he may be receiving. He also did not announce a permanent retirement from music. His comments instead suggest that his health and personal life are currently taking priority.

The revelation comes during a relatively quieter musical period for YoungBoy. He has still released projects in 2026, including “Slime Cry” and “ML2,” but his recent output has slowed compared with the relentless release schedule fans became accustomed to earlier in his career.

YoungBoy’s comments have quickly spread across social media, with supporters expressing concern and urging the rapper to concentrate on his health rather than rushing back into the studio.

For an artist whose music has often reflected pain, struggle and deeply personal experiences, the latest revelation has given fans a rare glimpse into a serious challenge taking place away from the spotlight.

For now, there is no confirmed timetable for when NBA YoungBoy will fully refocus on music.

What is clear is that one of rap’s busiest stars is slowing things down — and this time, his health appears to be the reason.
