Osofo Kyiri Abosom Sparks Religious Firestorm, Says There Is No Judgment Day or Heaven

Popular Ghanaian pastor and politician Christian Kwabena Andrews, widely known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom, has reignited a fierce religious debate after declaring that there is no judgment after death and rejecting traditional Christian teachings about heaven and hell.

His controversial comments have resurfaced in videos and posts circulating online, with Kyiri Abosom maintaining that people should not expect to face a future judgment after death.

The founder and leader of the Life Assembly Worship Centre has made similar statements in previous interviews. Speaking on the Oyerepa Breakfast Show in 2024, Kyiri Abosom said he did not believe heaven or hell existed and described teachings about the two destinations as a “big scam.”

According to the controversial preacher, people should concentrate on improving their lives and societies here on earth rather than waiting for a heavenly paradise after death. He argued that when a person dies, that is the end of that individual’s earthly existence and questioned what other pastors teach followers about the afterlife.

His position sharply contradicts mainstream Christian teachings, which hold that human beings will ultimately face divine judgment and that eternal life awaits believers.

Kyiri Abosom has previously gone even further, reportedly questioning other central Christian beliefs, including the divinity of Jesus Christ. Earlier reports said he described Jesus as a messenger rather than God and urged churches to stop focusing their preaching on heaven and hell.

The comments have predictably generated criticism from Christians who consider his interpretation incompatible with biblical doctrine. Veteran Ghanaian music producer Buddy RoRo previously responded to similar remarks by insisting that heaven, hell and judgment after death are real.

Despite the backlash, Kyiri Abosom has continued defending his position, turning one of Ghana’s most recognizable religious figures into the center of another major debate about faith, scripture and the afterlife.

As clips of his latest remarks spread online, one question continues to dominate the conversation: Can a Christian pastor completely reject heaven and judgment after death and still claim to represent Christianity?
