Popular Ghanaian businessman and gold dealer Peter Nana Kwadwo Ofosu Ayeh has found himself at the center of a major legal controversy after being arrested and arraigned before an Accra Circuit Court over an alleged GH¢160,000 fraud involving one kilogram of gold.

The case has generated significant attention on social media after a video emerged showing Ayeh being escorted by officers at the court premises. In the widely circulated footage, the businessman could be seen walking down a staircase accompanied by two officers before being taken toward a waiting vehicle.

According to reports, prosecutors have accused Ayeh of defrauding by false pretense in connection with the gold transaction. The allegations remain before the court, and no finding of guilt has been made against him at this stage.

Following his appearance, the Accra Circuit Court reportedly granted the gold dealer GH¢100,000 bail with three sureties, with all three required to be residents of Accra.

The court also ordered Ayeh to surrender his passport and National ID card to the court registry as part of his bail conditions while proceedings continue.

The case has reportedly been adjourned to November 2, 2026, when proceedings are expected to continue.

With the viral video attracting attention online, the case has quickly become a major talking point, particularly within Ghana’s business and gold-trading circles.

For now, however, the accusations against Peter Nana Kwadwo Ofosu Ayeh remain allegations before the court, and he is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless and until proven guilty.
