Ghanaian business mogul and philanthropist Ibrahim Mahama has reportedly come to the rescue of Abdul-Samed Sulemana, popularly known as Awuche, by offering to pay for his medical treatment and urgent surgery.

Ibrahim Mahama, the brother of President John Dramani Mahama, intervened after Awuche’s heartbreaking appeal for financial assistance attracted public attention.

Awuche, who is widely recognised as Ghana’s tallest man, is reportedly battling a serious infection in his left leg. The condition has deteriorated to the point where doctors are said to have recommended an amputation to prevent further complications.

However, financial difficulties allegedly made it impossible for him to travel to the Tamale Teaching Hospital and receive the urgent medical attention he needed.

Reports indicate that Ibrahim Mahama has now pledged to cover Awuche’s hospital bills, medical treatment and surgical expenses. Special arrangements were also reportedly made to transport him to Tamale, where he has begun the necessary medical procedures.

The intervention has brought renewed hope to Awuche, whose unusual height and health struggles have made him one of Ghana’s most recognisable personalities.

Awuche has previously spoken publicly about living with gigantism and the physical difficulties associated with his condition. His latest medical emergency triggered an outpouring of sympathy, with many people calling on individuals, organisations and the government to support him.

Ibrahim Mahama’s decision to take responsibility for the medical expenses has consequently received widespread praise on social media, with many describing the intervention as timely and potentially life-saving.

The businessman has become known for supporting people facing serious medical and financial challenges. His latest gesture means Awuche can now focus on his treatment and recovery without being overwhelmed by the cost of the procedure.

For Ghana’s tallest man, the support could mark the beginning of a difficult but important journey towards improved health and a better quality of life.
