Sean “Diddy” Combs has reportedly been placed in solitary confinement following a physical confrontation with another inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution Fort Dix in New Jersey.
The prison incident represents another dramatic setback for the 56-year-old music mogul, who is serving a 50-month federal sentence after being convicted on two counts of transporting individuals to engage in prostitution.
According to sources familiar with the confrontation, tensions erupted after another prisoner allegedly insulted Combs. The disagreement reportedly escalated into pushing and an exchange of punches before correctional officers quickly intervened and separated the two men.
No serious injuries involving Combs have been publicly reported. However, he was reportedly removed from the general prison population and placed in administrative segregation—commonly referred to as solitary confinement—while officials reviewed the incident.
It remains unclear how long Combs will remain separated from other inmates or whether additional disciplinary punishment will be imposed.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons has declined to confirm specific details about the reported fight, explaining that it does not publicly discuss individual inmates’ disciplinary matters because of privacy, safety and security concerns. Representatives for Combs had also not publicly addressed the confrontation at the time of reporting.
Combs was transferred to Fort Dix after receiving a four-year-and-two-month sentence in October 2025. A federal jury had convicted him of two prostitution-related transportation offences but acquitted him of the more serious racketeering conspiracy and sex-trafficking charges he faced.
His projected release date has reportedly been moved to February 23, 2028, although federal prison release dates can change because of sentence calculations, rehabilitation programmes and good-conduct credits.
The reported altercation could place those privileges under scrutiny. Prison disciplinary violations may result in the loss of certain benefits, restrictions on communication or recreation, continued segregation and possible reductions in earned good-conduct time. However, authorities have not announced any formal finding that Combs violated prison regulations.
The incident comes as the former Bad Boy Records executive continues appealing his conviction and sentence. His legal team previously argued that the prosecution misapplied federal law and that the punishment was influenced by conduct connected to charges on which he was acquitted.
Once surrounded by fame, luxury and extraordinary influence, Diddy is now facing an increasingly difficult existence behind prison walls. The reported fight has intensified questions about his safety, conduct and chances of securing an earlier release.
