Ghanaian gospel musician Florence Obinim has reportedly taken steps to end her long-running marriage to controversial preacher Bishop Daniel Obinim, sending shockwaves across Ghana’s entertainment and Christian communities.

Reports that emerged on September 1, 2026, claim Florence’s family has returned her “Tiri Nsa”, a traditional marriage token, to Bishop Obinim’s family—a customary gesture that can signify an intention to dissolve a traditional marriage.

According to media personality Ola Michael, who discussed the development in a viral Facebook video, information from a family source suggested that Bishop Obinim’s family received the traditional divorce token rather than rejecting it.

The reported development has intensified speculation that the couple’s marriage of more than two decades may finally be heading toward an official end.

However, there has been no independently confirmed report of a civil divorce petition filed in court, meaning claims that Florence has legally “filed for divorce” should be treated cautiously. The latest reports specifically concern the alleged traditional process.

Florence and Bishop Obinim, founder of the International God’s Way Church, have been open about serious problems in their marriage in recent months.

In June, Florence publicly indicated that she was prepared to accept divorce if her husband wanted to end their union. She said she had remained patient and committed throughout the marriage but would not stand in the way if separation became the final decision.
