Ghana’s music industry has been hit by a heated controversy after rising singer Maddy Maznaz accused dancehall star Stonebwoy of allegedly using elements of her unreleased song without permission.

Maznaz claimed Stonebwoy’s “Jiggle & Whine,” featuring Jamaican dancehall musician Spice, carries striking similarities to a song she created before the collaboration was released. According to her, the similarities can allegedly be heard in the melody, rhythm and parts of the lyrical arrangement.

The singer reportedly took to social media to express her disappointment, insisting that she had worked hard on the original composition. Maznaz further alleged that Stonebwoy may have gained access to her song after she shared it with him for feedback.

She accused the award-winning musician of taking advantage of her status as a relatively unknown artiste and releasing a similar record with an internationally recognised performer without first seeking her consent.

To strengthen her claims, Maznaz reportedly shared short audio clips comparing her unreleased material with “Jiggle & Whine,” inviting music lovers to listen and decide whether the resemblance was merely coincidental.

The accusation quickly triggered debate among entertainment fans. While some social-media users called for Stonebwoy to address the matter publicly, others argued that musical similarities alone may not be enough to prove deliberate copying.

The controversy has once again raised questions about copyright protection, song submissions and how emerging musicians can safely share unreleased material with established industry figures.

However, Maznaz’s statements remain allegations. The reports surrounding the dispute do not establish that Stonebwoy legally infringed her copyright, and no formal ruling confirming song theft has been cited.

Until stronger evidence or an official resolution emerges, the issue remains a fiercely debated music-industry dispute between an emerging singer seeking recognition and one of Ghana’s biggest dancehall stars.
