A new superstar era has officially begun in South Florida after the Miami Heat unveiled Giannis Antetokounmpo during a grand introductory press conference at the Kaseya Center on Thursday.
The two-time NBA Most Valuable Player proudly displayed his new No. 7 Heat jersey alongside team president Pat Riley and head coach Erik Spoelstra, bringing months of speculation to a dramatic conclusion.
Giannis arrives in Miami following a blockbuster trade from the Milwaukee Bucks. The Heat surrendered Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, Nate Ament and several future draft assets to secure the former NBA champion. Bobby Portis also joined Miami as part of the deal.
Speaking during his presentation, the 31-year-old made it clear that his move was driven by a desire to compete for more championships. “I need pressure at this time of my career,” Giannis said, explaining that leaving his comfort zone could push him to another level.
