A dramatic courthouse security video is going viral after an Ohio man managed to break his handcuffs, attack court officers and race toward the exit in a shocking attempted escape.
The incident happened Monday, September 14, at the Columbiana County Courthouse in Lisbon, Ohio, shortly after Timothy J. Reaggle of Wellsville was sentenced to one year in prison.
According to local reports, Reaggle was handcuffed in front and being escorted from the courtroom toward a holding area when he suddenly broke the restraints.
Witnesses said he turned and struck security bailiff Keith Thorn, knocking him to the floor. Reaggle then sprinted down the courthouse hallway, colliding with another bailiff, Steve Boyd, before racing into the stairwell in an apparent attempt to reach the building’s exit.
Security footage captured the chaotic scene as law enforcement officers rushed after him.
Deputy Nick Rusyn pursued Reaggle down the stairs while other officers attempted to block his path on the first floor. Reaggle reportedly managed to break away again and continued toward the courthouse doors.

His run for freedom ended only feet from the exit when he was hit with a Taser and wrestled back into custody. Officers then placed him in another set of handcuffs before transporting him to the Columbiana County Jail.
Authorities said two courthouse officers suffered broken bones during the confrontation. Both were taken to hospitals for treatment and later released.
Reaggle had just received the one-year prison sentence on charges connected to a 2025 case, including aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, aggravated menacing, failure to comply and assault.
The attempted escape could now bring additional legal trouble. Authorities said the new case will be presented to a grand jury as investigators consider charges stemming from the attack and escape attempt.
The stunning video has since spread across social media, showing just how close the courthouse confrontation came to becoming a full escape.
