A deadly daylight shooting has shaken Marsh Harbour, Abaco, after businessman and suspected drug figure Warren “Spy” Ellis was gunned down in a brazen attack outside an auto parts business on Monday, August 31.
According to reports, Ellis was leaving Parts City Auto Parts when several armed men approached and unleashed a barrage of gunfire. Local officials said at least 25 spent shell casings were seen at the scene, underscoring the intensity of the attack. Investigators believe Ellis was deliberately targeted.
Tragically, a 14-year-old boy who had stopped at the store to buy a drink was caught in the crossfire. The teenager, who was reportedly walking out of the business shortly before Ellis, was struck in the right leg despite having no connection to the intended target.
The injured student was airlifted to New Providence for medical attention. His pastor later said the bullet passed through the fleshy part of his leg without causing more severe injuries, and the teenager was subsequently discharged from hospital.

Police sources reportedly believe the gunmen may not have been residents of Abaco, raising suspicions that the attackers travelled from elsewhere to carry out the killing. Authorities are also examining the possibility that the shooting was retaliatory. A Cadillac believed to have been used as a getaway vehicle was later discovered abandoned and burned.
Ellis had been publicly linked over the years to alleged criminal activity, including suspected drug trafficking, although several cases involving him were either dropped or discontinued. In 2018, he and his wife were arrested after authorities discovered more than $13,000 in their luggage at Lynden Pindling International Airport; those charges were later dropped.
The killing marked Abaco’s second murder of 2026 and the 52nd homicide recorded across The Bahamas this year, according to The Tribune’s records. Police investigations into the deadly ambush are continuing.
