The suspense surrounding Lil Durk’s federal murder-for-hire trial has intensified after jurors reportedly requested access to digital evidence as they continue deliberating over the Chicago rapper’s fate.

Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, is awaiting the jury’s decision after prosecutors and defense attorneys completed closing arguments in the closely watched Los Angeles federal case. Jurors began deliberations on Wednesday, September 9, after weeks of testimony and evidence.

According to reports emerging from the courthouse, the jury asked for digital evidence to be made available in a format they could review during deliberations. The judge reportedly agreed to accommodate the request, with the material expected to be provided when deliberations resume.

The request immediately attracted attention because digital material has played a significant role throughout the prosecution. The case has involved a massive volume of electronic discovery, including audio and video recordings, surveillance footage and other digital records. Earlier court filings indicated that discovery contained approximately 230 gigabytes of digital evidence, along with thousands of pages of documents.

Prosecutors accuse Durk of participating in an alleged plot targeting rapper Quando Rondo following the 2020 death of King Von. The August 2022 Los Angeles shooting resulted in the death of Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a Robinson. Durk has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The jury’s request should not automatically be interpreted as favoring either the prosecution or defense. Jurors frequently review evidence while attempting to reach a unanimous decision, especially in complex cases involving large amounts of information.

For now, the courtroom remains on verdict watch as jurors take another close look at evidence before deciding whether prosecutors proved their case beyond a reasonable doubt.
