The Nigerian billionaire and President of the Dangote Group made the remarks during the Accra Reset: Full Circle event held in New York on Monday, September 21, 2026, on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.

Speaking at the high-level gathering, Dangote attributed Ghana’s improving economic outlook to renewed investor confidence and trust in the country’s leadership.
He argued that Mahama’s approach demonstrated how appropriate economic decisions and public confidence could help restore an economy facing financial difficulties.
According to the billionaire businessman, the Ghanaian President deserves recognition for the progress achieved since returning to office.
Dangote emphasized that the changes he observed did not require extraordinary measures but resulted from decisions that helped restore confidence in Ghana’s economic management.
Highlighting the importance of confidence in attracting investment, Dangote declared:
“This has actually shown that money follows trust.”
The businessman explained that investors are more willing to commit their resources when they believe in a country’s economic direction and leadership.
His remarks come as the Mahama administration continues to highlight economic stabilization, improved fiscal performance and investor confidence as central achievements of its economic agenda.
Dangote Calls for Greater African Economic Cooperation
Beyond praising Ghana’s economic performance, Dangote urged African leaders to strengthen cooperation and remove barriers that restrict movement and investment across the continent.
He questioned why African citizens sometimes encounter greater travel difficulties within Africa than visitors from outside the continent.
The business magnate encouraged African governments to translate the continent’s economic potential into practical opportunities through increased investment and stronger regional integration.
Dangote’s public endorsement of Ghana’s economic direction adds a prominent business voice to discussions about the country’s recovery, investor confidence and future development priorities.
