Former Ghana’s Most Beautiful contestant Ohemaa Sappama Angela, popularly known as Ohemaa GMB, has become the focus of fresh public concern following reports that she allegedly attempted to harm herself amid intense scrutiny over recent theft accusations.
Reports circulating on Sunday, August 30, 2026, initially claimed that the former beauty queen had died. However, those reports were subsequently disputed, with a Dunkwa-based blogger stating that Ohemaa was alive and urging social media users to disregard claims about her death.
The troubling development comes days after Ohemaa, who represented the Bono East Region in the 2023 Ghana’s Most Beautiful pageant, was accused of taking clothing and other items from shops in Kumasi without payment. Videos connected to the allegations circulated widely online and triggered heated debate about the former pageant contestant.
Ohemaa has, however, challenged aspects of the accusations. In an earlier account addressing one of the incidents at Tafo Market, she maintained that she did not intentionally steal anything. She explained that a misunderstanding involving items allegedly placed in her vehicle by her driver contributed to the controversy.
The situation reportedly became particularly tense when a crowd confronted her following one of the alleged incidents. Footage showed some residents intervening to protect Ohemaa as emotions escalated, preventing the confrontation from becoming even more serious.
A person described as a close friend of the former beauty queen had also reportedly appealed to the public to stop circulating damaging claims about her, expressing concern about the effect the intense social media attention could have on her well-being.
The latest reports have reignited conversations about the dangers of online humiliation and the rapid spread of unverified information involving public figures.
As of the latest reports, Ohemaa GMB is alive, contrary to earlier rumours announcing her death. Details surrounding the reported self-harm incident have not been independently confirmed by medical authorities or her family, making caution essential as the story continues to develop.
