Nearly three decades after Tupac Shakur’s shocking death, archival footage showing the legendary rapper alongside Death Row Records boss Marion “Suge” Knight before the fatal Las Vegas shooting has resurfaced online, sending hip-hop fans back to one of music’s darkest nights.
The footage, which has been circulating across social media, captures a glimpse of 2Pac and Suge Knight during the hours surrounding their September 7, 1996 night out in Las Vegas. For fans who know what happened later, the images carry an eerie weight as Tupac appears unaware that his life would soon take a devastating turn.
Earlier that evening, Tupac and Knight attended the Mike Tyson vs. Bruce Seldon heavyweight fight at the MGM Grand. After the bout, hotel surveillance cameras captured Tupac, Knight and others becoming involved in an altercation with Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson inside the casino.
Tupac later left the MGM Grand and eventually entered a black BMW driven by Knight. The pair were reportedly heading toward Club 662, a nightclub associated with Death Row Records.
At approximately 11:15 p.m., while their BMW was stopped near Flamingo Road and Koval Lane, a white Cadillac pulled alongside the passenger side and gunfire erupted. Tupac was struck multiple times, while Knight was also injured but survived.
Tupac was rushed to hospital in critical condition and died on September 13, 1996, six days after the shooting. He was just 25 years old.
The resurfaced footage has once again stirred emotions among fans, with many reflecting on just how ordinary the final hours of Tupac’s life appeared before tragedy struck.

His killing remained without a prosecution for decades until Duane “Keffe D” Davis was arrested and charged in 2023. Davis has pleaded not guilty, and the allegations against him remain subject to the court process.
