Legendary American singer Lionel Richie has been hospitalized again following another heart-related health scare, forcing the 77-year-old music icon to take a break from performing and cancel three upcoming concerts.
The Grammy-winning superstar, celebrated for timeless hits including “Hello,” “All Night Long,” and “Endless Love,” underwent a medical procedure to treat atrial fibrillation (AFib), a condition that causes an irregular heartbeat.
According to reports published on September 22, 2026, Richie underwent a cardiac ablation procedure as doctors worked to address his heart rhythm condition. His representative confirmed that the treatment was successful and that the singer is recovering well.
The latest hospitalization comes just weeks after Richie was admitted to a hospital in St. Louis following an August 29 concert. During that performance, the singer appeared to experience difficulties and completed his final song while seated.
He was subsequently discharged on September 2 after undergoing medical examinations.
The latest development has also disrupted Richie’s ongoing “Sing a Song All Night Long” tour with Earth, Wind & Fire.
Three scheduled performances in San Francisco, Chicago, and Columbus have been canceled to allow the singer time to recover.
