American rapper Lil Durk is receiving support thousands of miles away from home, with footage of Ghanaian fans marching through the streets of Kumasi calling for his freedom attracting renewed attention online.
The demonstration, which originally took place following Durk’s arrest in October 2024, saw supporters take to the streets wearing Only The Family (OTF)-branded clothing while publicly showing solidarity with the Grammy-winning Chicago rapper.
Videos and photos from the march showed groups of supporters dressed largely in black and red, with some carrying banners as they moved through parts of Kumasi. A live band was also reportedly involved as participants turned the demonstration into a highly visible show of support for the rapper.
The footage has gained fresh significance as Durk, whose legal name is Durk Devontay Banks, is now standing trial in Los Angeles on federal charges connected to an alleged murder-for-hire plot.
Federal prosecutors allege Durk was involved in a 2022 plot targeting rapper Quando Rondo. The shooting resulted in the death of Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson. Durk was arrested in October 2024 and has remained in federal custody while fighting the allegations.

Durk has pleaded not guilty and denies orchestrating the attack.
His federal trial officially entered the jury-selection stage on August 20, 2026, placing the high-profile case back at the center of international hip-hop conversation.
The Ghana demonstration highlights just how far Lil Durk’s influence extends beyond the United States. His music has developed a strong following across Africa, and the sight of supporters marching through Kumasi demonstrated the loyalty some Ghanaian fans have for the Chicago star.
As his courtroom battle unfolds, the resurfaced scenes from Ghana are once again gaining attention with the message from those supporters remaining unmistakable: “Free Durk.”
Durk is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
