OnlyFans model Courtney Clenney has reached a plea agreement with prosecutors, bringing a dramatic last-minute twist to the closely watched case involving the fatal stabbing of her boyfriend, Christian Obumseli.
Clenney, 30, had been preparing to stand trial on a second-degree murder charge over Obumseli’s death inside the couple’s Miami apartment on April 3, 2022. Her attorneys confirmed the agreement on Friday, July 31, just weeks before the trial was expected to begin.
However, the precise terms of the deal have not been publicly disclosed. It remains unclear whether Clenney will plead guilty to the original murder charge or a reduced offense, and her potential sentence has not yet been announced.
The proposed agreement must also receive approval from the judge before it becomes final. Clenney is scheduled to appear in Miami-Dade County court on August 10, when she is expected to formally change her plea. Sentencing could take place immediately afterward.
Clenney was arrested in Hawaii in August 2022, approximately four months after Obumseli, 27, suffered a fatal stab wound to the chest. She has remained in custody and previously entered a not-guilty plea.
The social-media personality has never denied causing the fatal injury but has consistently argued that she acted in self-defense during a violent confrontation. She told investigators that Obumseli pushed her and threw her to the floor before she grabbed a knife and threw it toward him. Prosecutors disputed that account, pointing to the medical examiner’s findings concerning the depth and nature of the wound.
Her defense team had planned to introduce messages, medical records and witness testimony that it said supported allegations that Clenney experienced abuse during the relationship. Obumseli’s family has rejected that characterization and maintained that he was the victim of domestic violence.
The unexpected plea agreement could now prevent a highly publicized trial that was expected to feature disturbing evidence about the couple’s turbulent relationship. Until the agreement is placed on the court record, the exact charge and punishment Clenney may face remain unknown.
