Former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo has made a significant move toward reconciliation within the Kantanka family after publicly endorsing her brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, popularly known as Akofena, as the leader of the Kristo Asafo Church and the Kantanka family.

Her unexpected declaration comes after months of leadership disagreements following the death of their father, renowned Ghanaian inventor and religious leader Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, in September 2025.

In a statement released on Thursday, October 8, 2026, Adwoa Safo emphasized the importance of forgiveness, togetherness and protecting the extraordinary legacy their father spent decades building.

The former Gender Minister declared that she was putting family interests above personal differences, stressing that the time had come for the Kantanka family to move beyond past misunderstandings.

“I have chosen the path of reconciliation, founded upon love, mutual respect and the enduring undisputed bonds of family,” she stated.

Adwoa Safo further expressed her affection and respect for her brother, officially recognizing him as the head of the family and the religious organization established by their late father.

She pledged her unwavering support for Akofena and expressed her willingness to collaborate with him and their other siblings to advance their father’s vision.

Her declaration represents a major development in the leadership controversy that has surrounded the Kristo Asafo Mission since the passing of its founder.

In June 2026, members of the late Apostle’s family publicly challenged Akofena’s leadership claim, maintaining that the succession arrangements established by their father should be respected.

During that period, Adwoa Safo was also identified as the recognized head of the Kwadwo Safo family and a principal representative of its interests.

However, her latest position signals a willingness to bridge those divisions and encourage cooperation among the family.

She reminded her siblings that their father’s achievements and contributions to religion, technology and Ghanaian innovation represent a shared inheritance that must be protected for future generations.

Adwoa Safo also appealed to members of the Kristo Asafo Church, the wider Kantanka family and supporters of her father’s initiatives to embrace peace and support the renewed spirit of reconciliation.

She expressed optimism that unity, mutual understanding and forgiveness would strengthen the family and ensure the continued growth of the institutions their father established.

The announcement could mark a turning point in the Kantanka family’s leadership dispute, although the broader response to her endorsement remains to be seen.

For Adwoa Safo, the message is clear: preserving Apostle Kwadwo Safo’s legacy must take priority over family disagreements.
