Sean “Diddy” Combs has reportedly been released from solitary confinement at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey following an alleged physical confrontation with another inmate that landed the music mogul in disciplinary housing.
According to a report published by TMZ on Wednesday, August 12, sources with knowledge of the situation said Combs is no longer being held in the prison’s special housing unit, commonly referred to as “the hole.” His removal from solitary comes after a dramatic prison incident that reportedly erupted when another inmate made a remark toward the Bad Boy Records founder.
The confrontation allegedly escalated into pushing and punches before correctional officers stepped in and quickly separated the two inmates. Reports previously indicated that Combs was placed in solitary confinement immediately after the altercation. The Federal Bureau of Prisons has declined to provide specific details about individual inmate disciplinary matters, citing privacy, safety and security concerns.
While Combs is now reportedly back out of solitary confinement, it remains unclear whether he could face additional disciplinary punishment connected to the incident.
The prison drama comes as Combs continues serving a 50-month federal sentence following his 2025 conviction on two counts involving transportation to engage in prostitution. A jury acquitted him of the more serious racketeering conspiracy and sex-trafficking charges.
Combs’ projected release date has also changed several times. Federal inmate records recently listed his expected release from FCI Fort Dix as February 20, 2028, after earlier projected dates were adjusted. Officials have not publicly explained every change to the timeline.
The latest development means Diddy has been released from solitary confinement—not from federal prison. He remains incarcerated as his legal battle continues and his attorneys pursue an appeal of his conviction and sentence.
For the 56-year-old music mogul, the reported prison fight and temporary stay in solitary mark another dramatic chapter in a stunning downfall that has kept his name at the center of international entertainment and legal headlines.
