The atmosphere outside a Los Angeles federal courthouse has reached fever pitch as supporters of Lil Durk turned out in numbers while the Grammy-winning rapper’s closely watched murder-for-hire trial moved into its crucial closing-arguments stage.

Videos and images surrounding the proceedings have highlighted the extraordinary attention the case has attracted, with fans, content creators, celebrities and members of the media gathering around the downtown Los Angeles courthouse.

The trial has become something of a spectacle throughout recent weeks. The Los Angeles Times reported that dozens of spectators have regularly competed for limited courtroom seats, with additional observers placed in an overflow room as interest in the rapper’s fate continues to intensify.

Closing arguments were scheduled for Tuesday, September 8, 2026, after both prosecutors and defence attorneys completed the presentation of evidence.

Durk, whose legal name is Durk Banks, has pleaded not guilty to federal charges stemming from an alleged 2022 plot targeting rapper Quando Rondo, whose legal name is Tyquian Bowman.

Federal prosecutors allege Durk helped organize and finance a retaliatory attack against Bowman following the 2020 death of his close friend and fellow rapper King Von.

Bowman survived the August 2022 shooting near the Beverly Center in Los Angeles, but his cousin, Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson, was fatally shot. Prosecutors accuse Durk of setting the alleged operation in motion, allegations his defence team strongly disputes.

Durk’s attorneys have sought to distance the rapper from the planning of the attack, arguing that prosecutors have failed to prove he ordered the shooting.

The courtroom has attracted major names from the hip-hop world during the trial. Artists including G Herbo, Dreezy and MGK have been reported among those showing support, while fans have previously appeared outside the courthouse wearing “Free Durk” clothing and carrying signs.

Now, with closing arguments underway, the case is approaching its most dramatic stage.

Once both sides complete their final presentations and the judge instructs the jury, Lil Durk’s future will be placed in the hands of the jurors.

With supporters packing the courthouse area and social media following every development, all eyes are now on Los Angeles as one of hip-hop’s biggest trials moves closer to a verdict.
