Hip-hop heavyweight Rick Ross is facing a lawsuit after a concert organizer accused him of abruptly canceling two highly anticipated North Carolina performances and leaving the company with more than $261,000 in expenses and lost profits.

Tour organizer Omega14 Incorporated filed the lawsuit against Ross, whose legal name is William Leonard Roberts II, as well as his touring company and Maybach Music label. The complaint alleges that Ross breached an agreement to perform in Greensboro and Charlotte during the final weekend of his Port of Miami 20th Anniversary Orchestra Tour.

The concerts were scheduled for August 28 in Greensboro and August 29 in Charlotte. According to the lawsuit, Ross had agreed to perform for at least one hour at each show, with cancellation reportedly permitted only under limited circumstances such as severe injury or death.

Omega14 claims it had already spent substantial money securing venues, musicians, choir members, staff, accommodations, transportation, advertising and other production needs before learning the performances would not go forward.

According to the complaint, the organizer was informed around 1 p.m. on the day of the Greensboro concert that Ross would not perform there or at the Charlotte show scheduled for the following day.

The company further alleges that Ross performed at separate events in Orlando and Miami Beach during the same period, which it argues undermines any suggestion that illness or serious injury prevented him from fulfilling the North Carolina dates.

The Charlotte concert was reportedly close to capacity, while a significant number of general admission and VIP tickets had also been sold for Greensboro.

Omega14 is seeking compensation for what it says were losses exceeding $261,000, accusing Ross and the other defendants of breach of contract and other wrongdoing connected to the cancellations.

Ross had not publicly responded to the allegations when the lawsuit was reported.
