Hip-hop heavyweight Rick Ross has been arrested in Florida on serious domestic violence charges, just days after his former girlfriend publicly accused him of physical abuse.
The 50-year-old rapper, whose legal name is William Leonard Roberts II, was taken into custody by Miami Beach police on Thursday, October 1, 2026. Miami-Dade jail and court records show that Ross faces one felony count of battery by strangulation and one misdemeanor battery charge, both classified as domestic violence offenses.
Ross was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at approximately 6:10 a.m.
Court records listed bond at $5,000 for the strangulation charge and $1,000 for the battery count, bringing the total listed bond to $6,000. His arraignment is currently scheduled for October 22.
The arrest comes only days after Ross’ former girlfriend, model and content creator Jazzma Kendrick, made disturbing allegations about their relationship.

Kendrick posted photographs on Instagram that appeared to show an injured lip and alleged that Ross was responsible. She claimed the alleged incident was the moment she decided to leave the relationship and spoke publicly about the dangers of remaining in an abusive situation.
However, law enforcement records initially made available to the media did not identify the alleged victim in Ross’ new criminal case, and authorities had not confirmed whether Kendrick’s allegations are directly connected to his arrest.
The Miami rapper has been one of hip-hop’s biggest names for nearly two decades, building a successful career behind hits including “Hustlin’” and establishing Maybach Music Group.
His latest legal trouble now places the music mogul under intense scrutiny as more details surrounding the allegations are expected to emerge through court proceedings.
Ross is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court, and the criminal charges remain allegations at this stage.
